Sept. 2nd
Good morning folks. Today is a different day and lets hope the fish realize that also. With our first albacore yesterday at 230 in the afternoon it was safe t o say it was slow. The fish popped up in the afternoon and we got a couple of short stops and then down again with no evening shot.
With not many other option we are offshore again hoping they start to bite today. Sill good sign just off the bite. We will report again tomorrow.

Sept. 3rd
Good morning folks. We finished off yesterday with excellent yellowtail fishing. Very steady all day, with the mackerel we were able to fish the 60 pound test and really do well on that premium grade yellow. Any where from 5 to 10 fish on most of the day. And the grade was that nice South end fish.
With not much else to do we are fishing up the beach in hopes of Halibut and so far no luck ,but it is early yet We will be in tomorrow and then Julio is bringing the boat out on a 5 day trip while I regroup for the rest of the season.
See you then

Sept. 5th,
Good evening folks. A great day of fishing on our first 1.5 day trip. Nice long drifts on albacore throughout the day and then finishing off with a wide open style stop in the evening. The weather was a big issue and we fought through all night and most of the day. It did back off in the afternoon and the good fishing took the minds off the rough waters thought the day.
After cleaning up we are heading east toward home enjoy the well deserved ride going with the wind . Had a great steak dinner and will be home early in the morning. We leave on another 1.5 day trip tomorrow and are hoping for the same results.

Good morning folks. Another great 1.5 day trip with the weather down and the fishing up we had limits of albacore fore Mexican permits and are leaving again today on our regular schedule. A 4 day trip . The albacore fishing will judge where we start on the next trip.

Sept. 9th,
Good morning folks. Our annual Charkbait tackle 4 day put us back on our regular schedule after 2 nice 1.5 day trips up in the albacore grounds. This trip they like to fish Islands more than offshore. We started out at Guadalupe yesterday at lunch and had a nice afternoon with 45 tuna from 35 to 65 pounds. Also 8 yellowtail to go with.

Sept. 11th,
Good evening folks. The second day of fishing we had poor conditions and a tough time with the sharks. Scratching 20 tuna from 35 to 60 pounds and losing at least that many to the sharks. We left and headed up to the albacore grounds looking for some quantity to go with the Quality we had at the Island. Unfortunately the weather came up and the fish went down. It made for a long day in the windy uncomfortable waters offshore. It could of worked out great unfortunately the weather spoiled our chances.
We are leaving on a 5 day trip tomorrow so we will have more time for the islands below. With the weather up a straight shot to an Island might be in order.

Sept. 13th
Good morning folks. The weather is still up so we are headed south. First we'll stop at the outside Island in hopes of settling the Jack Pot and depending on how things go a move to the inside for some of that great yellowtail action. Izorline sponsors this trip and we have had a nice raffle and a couple of JP trophies for the end of the trip. We will report again tonight on our fishing today

Sept 14th,
Good morning folks. After a frustrating day at Guadalupe we made the move to the inside. With poor conditions and lots of sharks it just did not look like we were going to have anything to work with. The wind put us in a small area around the south end were we hooked 3 fish that were eaten by sharks. The Northeast current was not good for the area we fished and very little showed . If things turn and the current goes back to the South west there might be a chance.
But for now the yellowtail grounds looks like our best bet. Surfing the large swells and 25 knot winds coming I'm was sure glad we were going with it and not trying to head out .that would have been bad. We will report again tomorrow.

Sept. 16th,
Good morning folks. After 2 excellent days down at the Island we are going to wrap things up with a little inshore fishing. Maybe even a couple of anchor jobs for Calicos. Cedros once again paid off big for us and the fleet. With the weather showing signs of clearing we may see the albacore counts go up and hopefully start to see the tuna counts go up out at Guadalupe. But until then we have an excellently fishery and are thankful for it. We will report again tomorrow

Good morning folks. We find ourselves at Cedros again after another poor day at the famous Guadalupe Island. Almost no sign of tuna with the exception of two boils on an anchor job.
Conditions remain poor with North east current along the entire side of the island. We are hoping for a good day of yellowtail fishing after yesterday.

Sept. 24th,
Good morning folks. Our first 10 day trip is headed south in hopes of Tuna and wahoo. First stop on the outside hoping to scratch a few wahoo and tuna. With the water structure offshore it looks like that will be our best chance for any real wahoo fishing. We will try the rocks first and that will set us up for a nice temp break toward the inside. With wahoo on the minds of most we have our work cut out for us. Hopefully some kelps will show promise of them.

Sept. 26th,
Good morning folks. Good fishing yesterday at the Rocks. After a troll session for no wahoo we got the anchor down and stayed with a steady pick all afternoon. So far this morning it is slow but we are hoping for that to change. We will report again tomorrow.

Sept. 27th,
Good morning folks. Yesterday was another nice day at the Rocks . A little slower than the first day but stayed busy most of the day. Scratched 53 tuna 40 to 70 pounds and another 33 nice yellows. Most of the fish were caught fly line sardine with just a few on the kite.
Bait fishing went good and we got enough mackerel to fish with. Today has started off good but now things have died. Hopefully it picks up this afternoon.

Sept. 28th,
Good morning folks. Yesterday was another nice day at the Rocks. More of that nice size yellowtail today and a scratch on the tuna with a nice afternoon shot ending with 57 tuna and 53 yellows, all nice grade for those of you that are looking forward to the next trip.
After today we are going inside possibly to the Mag bay area to look in the big tuna grounds from the years prior. With a couple of days on the inside we would love a surprise with maybe some wahoo or at this rate just something different. I think as a group we have had enough of this.
So far today we have just 9 tuna this morning and it does not look all that great, although conditions are still good, so maybe later.
Andy Cates
Sept. 29th,
Good morning folks. Yesterday morning we scratched at the tuna and a few yellows. It was much slower than the day before, so we left after lunch. That move paid off as we got into some great Dorado action in the afternoon, nice size fish as well 15 to 30 pound dorado. Our last kelp lasted until dark and we headed in looking for wahoo. So far we have caught 14 wahoo in 2 stops. The losses were heavy as usual but fun while it lasted. We are hoping for another stop this afternoon. But it seems like there is not much around just a couple of small schools. Tonight we will try for bait and take it from there .

Sept. 30th,
Good evening folks. Yesterday we spent the day in search of wahoo and managed to pick up 16 for the day. A couple of fast pace stops with heavy losses but the excitement was there.
Today was similar with 20 wahoo and heavy losses as well. Fact is wahoo are hard to catch. And everyone found that out the last 2 days. We did drift up a few grouper and will be trying for more of that tomorrow.
