Sept. 1st
Good afternoon folks, here is the late afternoon report for Sept 1st. Today we
had a half way decent day. The weather was outstanding, and we scratched for
the better part of the day. As of 6 :30 p.m., we have
limits for the day on albacore, and 51 Bluefin tuna, most are 30 to 50 lbs.
We don't have a whole lot of time left, but we made the best of today. The
folks had a great time fishing. We will be in San Diego tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
Take care and have a great labor day. Jeff DeBuys
Sept 4 2002
Good morning folks It is just after breakfast and so far we have a decent pick
on some albacore with a few Bluefin to go with it but maybe it will transpire
as we drift. Good size albacore an 18 pound average. Here we are in September
and we are still talking albacore. What a year! We will report later. If not
we will get you tomorrow morning. Once again the weather is great.

Sept 5 2002
Good morning folks, Yesterday we ended up drifting until 500 in the evening. We picked away at Bluefin and albacore for most of the day . The Bluefin up to 55 pounds and albacore about 18 pound , some bigger some smaller. The weather couldn't be better. Flat calm with a cool overcast. So far this morning things look poor. We are drifting on fish they just wont bite. Reports from the other guys in our group don't sound good either. Hopefully we can get back on the fish and get back to business. We will report again later, Andy Cates
Sept 6 2002
Good morning folks. Yesterday afternoon we got on some great albacore
fishing. Good stops drifting and fast action short stops put together a very
nice day. Not much Bluefin to speak of, a little bit seen but none caught.
Hopefully they pop back up in the next couple of days. We ended up with
enough albie for the trip yesterday so we decided to do something different.
We checked out San Martin in the hopes of good conditions for yellowtail.
Unfortunately conditions were poor. Cold and dirty water. We went back
offshore
to try for yellows on kelps. So far not to much to report. We picked up 15,
20 pound Bluefin in the dark and now just a few yellows and dorado on kelps.
Our ETA for tomorrow is between 8:00 to 8:30 am. We will report later, Andy
Cates
Sept. 8 2002
Good morning folks. Not much to report here this morning. The weather is
poor and not much sign of anything. 20 albacore on various jig strikes. We
are considering Guadalupe or Benitos for tomorrow. Hopefully the albacore
will get there act together and start to bite. We will report again later,
Andy Cates.
Sept 9 2002
Good morning folks, Yesterday afternoon brought us good albacore fishing
right up until dark. Mostly stop and go throughout the day with a few decent
drifts resulting in stops ranging from 15 to 60 fish. No Bluefin to speak of
although we were just happy to have the day on albacore. The weather got
better and better throughout the day. This morning we are at Guadalupe
Island. We will fish here the day and then tomorrow go back up and finish on
albacore and hopefully Bluefin. We will report again later, Andy Cates
Sept. 10 2002
Good morning folks. Yesterday we spent the day at Guadalupe Island. We ended
up scratching 30 decent size tuna and 37 nice size yellowtail. All of our
fishing was done up on the north end of the island. The tuna came 2 and 3 at
a time with an occasionally having a flurry for more. It is light line
fishing and most of the fish are 50 to 65 pounds so it makes for a battle on
30 or 40 pound test. The yellowtail all came out of one stop. In the evening
we saw a spot of yellows pop up and we got on them. The fish wanted to bite
for about an hour and then they were gone. The yellows were 25 to 45 pounds.
Really some nice fish. It was pretty exciting with that size fish all on the
surface, boiling on the sardine and hits on the surface iron. I posted a
picture with Chris Shoff with a pile of yellowtail at the tail end of the
bite. I also posted pictures of some of the trophy yellow fin that has
showed up at the Island. Today we will hopefully get some albacore to finish
off our trip. We will report again later, Andy Cates

Sept 11 2002
Good morning folks. We had a good morning of albacore fishing yesterday.
Stops with good action until about noon. Things really slowed down and
turned into just short stops. From what we saw and from what some of the
other boats were doing in the morning it looked to be an epic day. All and
all it was decent fishing its just always nice to end it off with a bang.
The weather was decent and hopefully it stays. The next trip is a three day
and as long as this fishing holds up it should be just fine. We will be in
this morning at 830 we will see you then, Andy Cates
Sept. 12th
Good evening folks, here is the fishing report for Sept. 12th. We departed
San Diego yesterday, for a 3 day outing. After topping off our bait supply,
we headed to the fishing grounds. We scratched pretty steadily for the
better part of the day on albacore. At the end of the day we got on a good
school of albacore, and it went wide open until dark. We got fixed up on
albacore, and are going to look for some Bluefin tuna tomorrow, so wish us
luck. The weather is a little bit choppy, but still fishable. We will report
on our last day of fishing tomorrow night. sea ya then. Jeff DeBuys
Sept. 13
Good morning folks, here is the report for Fri Sept. 13th. This report is
written on the 14th, because the weather was too choppy to type it on the
13th. We started the day in another area, looking for Bluefin tuna. We did
see one small dab of fish, but they didn't want to bite. We spent the rest
of the day looking, but we didn't see another school of tuna. We had some
albacore stops, but even they were reluctant to bite. We did manage to have
a great trip, with the guys getting limits of albacore. Today we are leaving
on a 4 day trip, and we hope the weather comes down for us. We will report
when we get away from the point. sea ya then, Jeff DeBuys
Sept. 15
Good morning everyone, we have a early morning report for Sunday the 15th.
we got off to a early departure yesterday for our 4 day trip, and headed to
Guadalupe Island. We arrived at the south end at 0730, and found a parking
spot. We hooked a few fish right away, but so far they are all show and no
go. It is still early, and hopefully they get with it soon. The weather is
beautiful. We will update this report this evening. sea ya , Jeff DeBuys
Sept. 16
Good evening everyone, the report for today is as follows. We had a rather slow day, as we didn't see the amount of fish we did yesterday, as well as fish not biting. The weather is good here at the island. We had 30 yellowfin for the day, and will be fishing for albacore tomorrow. sea ya then , Jeff DeBuys

Good morning folks, here is a quick rundown for our day at Guadalupe Isle.
We didn't have very good conditions for the first part of the day, but we
got some current about mid day, and we scratched some quality
yellowfin tuna. We ended up with 42 fish from 35 to 55 lbs. We have opted to
stay here at the island for one more day, in hopes that the sign we saw late
in the day is an indicator of better things to come. The weather is very
nice sitting on the anchor, but it is still breezy out away from the island.
Here are a few pics from the days activities. We hope things are on the
upswing. Talk to you later. Jeff DeBuys

Sept. 17
The evening report for the 17th is as follows. We spent the day offshore, in
the hopes of catching some albacore. We found some good fishing for them as
well. We had numerous stops for steady action on 16 to 25 lb. fish and what
a great way to end the trip. The weather laid down nicely also. We will be
back in San Diego tomorrow at 0800. We depart on a 5 day, tomorrow
afternoon. We will talk to you later. Jeff DeBuys
Sept 20 2002
Good morning folks. Yesterday was our first day of fishing for the
Izorline 5 day trip. Scooter and Norm brought out some great giveaways and
things to raffle. Many thanks to Izorline, Catchy Tackle, Fishworks, Tady
and Accurate. The fishermen were like kids in a candy store. We are glad
that this is an Izorline Charter as many reels needed new line after our
first Bang-up day of albacore fishing. Wide open to say the least. Really a
nice way to get things started. The crew stripped and reloaded reel while we
traveled last night.
We are arriving at Guadalupe this morning. Things have been slow here the last couple of days. Guadalupe can change by the hour. Hopefully we will see a change for the better and the yellowfin will test our anglers. We will report again later, Andy Cates
Sept 21 2002
Good morning folks, We ended up leaving Guadalupe yesterday at about 4:00 in
the afternoon. We are now on our way to Cedros island. We are going by
Benitos and the water temp looks good, we will probably check that out today
as well. Guadalupe was very slow. Actually we didn't really catch anything
after lunch time .We did get some nice size yellowfin and a couple of
yellowtail for our efforts. The weather was really nice and I got some great
pictures to show. We will be on the yellowtail mission today. Hopefully it
works out. We will report again tomorrow. Andy Cates

Sept 22 2002
Good morning folks. We spent the morning at Cedros island were we had decent
action on yellows. Yo - Yo jig seemed to be the best with some hits on the
live bait as well. At lunch time things slowed way down. We decided to go to
Benitos for the afternoon. Nobody had been there for a while and the water
temp on the way in looked good. Well, the water was warm but very dirty.
Foam and scrap kelps in the water. Rip currents off every corner of the
island. It was a miracle we caught what little bit we did. We picked up a
dozen fish on the ' Boiler". We left after just a couple of hours and
started heading back up to an area were some Bluefin popped up. We will
spend the day trying for Bluefin tuna. We will report again tomorrow.

Sept 24 2002
Good morning folks. We arrived at the albacore grounds at 1100 in the
morning. Fishing was slow until about 4:30 and then we started to get stops
on some really nice size albacore. We really were looking for Bluefin but we
were itching to catch anything. Right at sundown we got on a school of 60 to
80 pound Bluefin that wanted to bite. The fish stayed on the bite into the
dark. We fished until 8:30 and then took off for home. What a nice way to
finish off this trip. I posted a couple of pictures. One of a nice size
albie picked up on bait and the another of Scooter and Norm, The reps from
Izorline that provided a lot of great tackle for the trip. We ended up
getting 31 of that nicer size Bluefin. We are leaving on another 5 day trip
today We will see you then Andy Cates

Sept. 25 2002
Good evening folks, here is the report for Sept, 24th. well, first of all,
it is hard to believe that September is almost gone, and we still have great
fishing for albacore and Bluefin tuna. We departed San Diego yesterday on a
5 day extravaganza. After topping off our bait supply, we had the usual on
board tackle seminar. We started the next day which is today, at 105
miles. We saw good sign of albacore, but it was reluctant to bite at first.
We had a few good stops, and some fish were pushing 40 lbs. About mid
morning, we got on a school of Bluefin tuna that stayed with us for most of
the day. These fish are beauties, and we managed to put some on the boat.
The Bluefin went from 60 to 100 lbs., and were a real challenge to catch.
the rest of the afternoon we ended up driving around for some albacore, and
saw another school of Bluefin, but no bites. Final tally for the day is as
follows, 29 Bluefin tuna, and 106 albacore. The weather is great and we are
going to try for more tomorrow. We will report again then. Sea ya , Jeff
DeBuys

Sept. 26th 2002
We had a somewhat slow day fishing, with the best fishing being in the
morning. We ended up with 10 Bluefin tuna 40 to 60 lbs., and 120 on the
albacore. The albies at least kept us busy. Tomorrow we will be at Guadalupe
Island, in hopes of some decent fishing on trophy yellowfin tuna, and
yellowtail. The weather is still good, but a breeze is starting. Take care,
and we will report again manana. Jeff DeBuys
Sept. 27th 2002
We fished Guadalupe Island today. Things were looking a bit slow in the
morning, as we made a substantial tour of the front side of the island. We
did see a little sign at one spot, so we anchored for the rest of the day.
We did manage to scratch some fish after 12 noon. We ended up with 35
yellowfin tuna, 50 to 85 lbs., and 23 yellowtail,18 to 25 lbs. I must say
that the white sharks here are a real factor now, as almost every time you
get fish around you, they show up and snack on 10 to 15 fish a day. The
sharks are a real pain in the ass. We are going to spend the remainder of
our trip here, which is a half day tomorrow. The weather is a bit breezy,
but still nice here. We will have another report when we depart the island
for home. sea ya then, Jeff DeBuys

Sept. 28th 2002
Good afternoon everyone, we have a final report for our 5 day trip. We spent
the last half day at Guadalupe today, and did manage to scratch some
yellowfin tuna and yellowtail. We had some medium to fast action, and
everyone had a great time pulling on these nice grade fish. The tally for
this morning was 32 yellowfin, and 11 yellowtail, all of which were
beautiful fish or "trophies". The trip went really well, and the grade of
tuna is awesome, bluefin and yellowfin. We will be back in San Diego
tomorrow around 0830. We are looking forward to starting our longer
trips, as we depart for a 10 day on Sunday. We will report on the 10 day as
it gets going. Until then, take care. Jeff Debuys
Sept 30 2002
Good morning folks. The first of our 10 day trips have begun with West Coast
Anglers . After getting an excellent load of bait we gathered up in the galley
for an orientation that finished off with a raffle and a lot of great
giveaways. This morning we will do a tackle seminar and spend the rest of the
morning getting rigged up. Right now we are on course for Alijos Rocks. We
will make the final decision tonight. We will report again tomorrow
