May 2006

May 8, 2006

Good evening fellow anglers, Welcome back, sorry for the lack of reports but we have been in dock since March 25th for our annual USCG checks and maintenance. We are just beginning our 15 day trip Sponsored by John Loftus and Larry Martin.

The trip started off with EVERYONE receiving a complimentary  Seeker black steel 8ft rod, custom wrapped by Smitty G. What a way to start a trip! We will be updating as often as possible, if we miss a day don't panic we will be back.

We are still on our way to the fishing grounds and should be fishing by Tuesday morning. We are hoping the bank gets a chance to turn for the better. I figure we will spend a couple of days there and then head out for hopes of wahoo and trophy tuna weather is nice and people are happy.

We still have three spots open on our next 15 day trip leaving May 20th for anyone who gets the urge to get one last long range trip in before the next season. Just call the office.

Good morning folks, We will be at the Hurricane Bank at 1100 in the morning. Only 10 tuna and 2 wahoo yesterday from 70 to 120  pounds. A lot of driving for just a couple of stops. Not a lot of sign out side the islands. At this point in the trip we opted for the other option for now.

Good afternoon folks. Not much  to report yet, so far it's pretty slow here today on the tuna. Just 3 tuna and 25 wahoo for the day. There is sign of tuna but for some reason they just wont bite. Ed Sheenstra got the big fish of the day right at 200 pounds. It was amongst many shark bites on the kite and was very lucky Yesterdays big fish went to John Wichman with a 170 pounder. Once again very slow with only 5 tuna for the day.

We have hopes that it will pick  up. In the meantime everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather, good company,  Jorge's good food and the wine that Loftus and Larry brought for everyone. So life is good. We will report again tomorrow.

Good afternoon folks, We had a little action on smaller grade fish today 35 to 90 pounds. No wahoo today but it looks like maybe things might be looking up.

We did get one big fish, hooked by John Chambers. It broke the flouro carbon after a huge run.

We will report again tomorrow,

Good morning folks, The wahoo perked up yesterday giving us good fishing trolling around. There weren't any tuna in the morning but we ended the day with 50 wahoo. The evening brought signs of tuna but only sharks to show for our efforts. So far this morning we managed 2 tuna through the sharks and 9 wahoo. The tuna were 100 pound class fish and thankful for that. We will be leaving here today and heading up the coast toward home.

The weather is nice and the forecast looks good,

Good morning folks, Yesterday was our last day of fishing and the conditions were very similar to the entire week. One good note was Paul Olsen with a 215 pounder and Fred Pease with a 175 pounder. Another 10 wahoo for the day bringing our final total to 100 wahoo and 50 mixed size tuna. The sharks at the bank made it tough the whole week. If they back of it would make it possible to pick at the better size fish.
With what we had to work with the frustration was huge. Hopefully on the next moon phase the sharks back off.
We are leaving on the 20th for the bank one more time and then the summer season begins. The weather has been great the whole trip just a couple more days and it will have been perfect.

Good morning folks, It looks like we left just before the rain and we're on our way back to the Hurricane bank.
Fortunately recent reports show signs of the sharks backing off and while fishing still sounds scratchy without the sharks our chances on big fish will increase.
We will be fishing day after tomorrow. This trip is sponsored by Accurate fishing products and we will enjoy the daily jackpots of Accurate reels. We will report again tomorrow
