Good evening folks. Another day of travel. We will be fishing in the morning.
Another seminar today, wahoo fishing this time. We spent the rest of the day
getting rigged up and enjoying the nice weather. The forecast
looks good for the next 72 hours. if it stays like this it will be perfect. We
will be reporting tomorrow on our first day of fishing. Hopefully we have some
nice picture to share. Andy Cates
June 2, 2004
Good evening folks. Today ended up quite disappointing. On the other hand the
sign of fish was very encouraging. Only a half a dozen tuna and a handful of
wahoo for our efforts. Conditions are good and the fish are there it just needs
to turn on. We do have time and it only takes a few days , but hopefully tonight
or
tomorrow is that day. Biggest fish today was 150 pounds and down from there. The
weather is beautiful and the forecast shows a couple more days of it so we will
enjoy it while it lasts. We will report again tomorrow Andy Cates
June 4, 2004
Good morning folks, Yesterday was more of the same. Although we did see better
sign, getting a bite was another story only 6 tuna for the day and a couple of
wahoo. All efforts were tried from balloons, kite, chunk, sardine and mackerel.
When its off it is off. The jumpers and areas of breaking fish kept our hopes
high. I posted some pictures of some of the guys with some decent size fish. No
200 pound fish but a lot of work for the fish we caught. So far this morning we
have 5 tuna. The better size fish got on us earlier and we had a few chances.
That was a first so we are hoping for change soon.

Good evening folks, More of the same today. Good sign but very few bites. The
weather is still good and we are happy with that. The fishing is brutal,
hopefully things turn around soon. This is getting old. We did pick up a few
nice fish today. Jim Kinney got the first and only fish that taped out right at
200 pounds. That fish also won him an Accurate reel. Tomorrow we are hoping to
give away another. We will report again tomorrow. Andy Cates

Good evening folks. Still no change. Good sign but no bites. We tried a few
different things today off the edge. Slow trolling baits through the schools and
drifting with no results. We only had three bites today all on the kite. Bob
Cherry got a nice fish on the kite, Taped out just over 200 pounds. That was the
highlight. Hopefully tomorrow. We will report then, Andy Cates

June 6, 2004
Good evening folks. Another slow day. A little more wahoo and a few more bites
on tuna, but still far from good. The quality was there, Glenn Kuromi with a 233
and Mike Faulkner with a 209 were the highlights. Bob Cherry with a nice fish in
the high 100's and Bud Maurnan with a decent fish. 9 tuna and 8 wahoo for our
efforts. The sign was still there they just won't bite. Hopefully tomorrow we
have 3 more days and a lot of work to do to put together a trip. We will report
again tomorrow

Good evening folks. Another super slow day. Once again good sign just not
biting. Actually it was our worst day so far with only 3 tuna and 2 wahoo. We
did have a showing late that was good. We hooked half a dozen fish while they
were jumping all around the boat. We lost all but 2 . Glenn had a nice fish on
the kite and Leo broke his dry spell. Every fish landed at this point seems
special even the smaller grade. Hopefully tomorrow is better. We need a savior.

June 8, 2004
Good morning folks. Yesterday started off with an unbelievable sign of jumpers.
Big fish all around the boat.
It looked like what we had been waiting for. We soon realized it was just more
of the same. Very few bites. We watched the fish for 7 hours, blowing out on
flyers and only hooked a handful. Bob Tyler got this decent fish on the kite.
Leo Relshen and Larry Martin connected with little flyers on balloons. After
lunch we never saw another fish. In the evening we hooked 2 fish, Leo had one on
for a while and pulled the hook, David Rouse got a lucky hit on the kite in the
dark.
So far this morning we have caught nothing. There is very little sign and it
looks to be an extra long day.
Hopefully they move in and we get a hit before we leave. We will report again
tomorrow, Andy Cates

Good morning folks. We left the Bank last night after more of the same response
from the fish. Not a bite all day and 6:00 they came in and started jumping
around. We ended up landing 7 fish. Larry Martin started things off with a 214
on the kite with a puffer followed by Mike Faulkner with a 217 on a flyer on the
kite. We landed a few more decent fish Chris Kumai with one of the last fish
caught on the trip. It was the same old story fish all around but only on the
little flyers. Once again an unbelievable show, too bad they don't bite like
they show.
We are traveling today and the weather is decent enough. Hopefully it lays down
up above. We will report again tomorrow Andy Cates

Good evening folks. Rough weather has slowed us down a bit. Everything is
running fine its just a bit choppy.
Hopefully the weather improves and we make up some time. It looks like 11:00 ETA
at the dock on Sunday. That can change and I will update tomorrow. We will
report again then, Andy Cates
June 15, 2004
Good morning folks, we left on Monday on the Billy Casper,
Seeker rods, and Soft steel, seven day charter. Today we had good fishing on 25
to 40 lb. albacore. We are presently heading south with the intention to fish
Yellowtail in the morning as we continue our trip down the baja coast. The
picture we have sent along for today are a good example of the quality Albacore
we encountered. John and crew.

Today did not turn out the way we had hoped. Due to the excellent sign of life
we saw traveling down last night, we decided to stay offshore. The fish we had
seen turned out to be good quantity of smaller grade blue fin tuna in the twenty
five pound class. Unfortunately it did not want what we had to offer. We did
however manage to get one school to bite for six lucky anglers. We also had
good action on kelp paddy yellowtail in the eight to twelve pound range which
were released except for a few as you can see from the picture we sent for
today. We are now traveling south with Alijos Rocks on our bow in hopes of some
more good quality fish for the R.S.W. fish holds. Good night, John and R.R. crew

June 17, 2004
We arrived this morning at Alijos Rocks and found fair sign of eight to fifty
pound tuna that had no interest in our baits. We trolled around for a fair
amount of time and managed to get one Wahoo as you can see by the photo of the
day. Very poor fishing as we managed to only catch a couple handfuls of Yellow
Tail and a few small tuna for our day's efforts. After dark we tanked up on
Mackerel and left for the big Bluefin tuna area above us, wish us luck. Good
night, John and RR crew

June 19, 2004
We had a nice day today. The fishing was fair and so was the weather at the
south end of Cedros island. The Yellowtail we caught were eighteen to twenty
five pounders which ate anything you wanted to try from the surface and yo yo
irons to fly line and dropper loop mackerel. Although the fishing never got
wide open we constantly had fish going all morning long which was a welcome
change of pace from the unproductive fishing we had off shore this trip.
Attached are pictures of Ken Gibbings and Matt Jackson. We are now headed up
the line in search of some more Albacore action to finish off the trip. Good
night, John and RR crew
June 20, 2004
Good morning folks, this is just what the doctor ordered, spectacular Albacore
fishing on 18 to 40 pound fish. What a great way to finish our trip on wide
open Albacore fishing to complement our good day of Yellowtail fishing
yesterday. The trip went very well as we had excellent weather a great group of
anglers and good fishing, life is good. We plan arriving at Lee Palm
Sportfishing at eight in the morning tomorrow, have a good day and thanks for
checking on us. John and Red Rooster crew
June 21, 2004
Good evening folks. Our first day of a six day trip offered good action on
decent size albacore. Everyone got in on the action and had a good time. The
weather was perfect and the seas were calm. Tomorrow we are going to spend the
day offshore for bluefin and possibly yellows on kelps. Hopefully it works out.
We will report again tomorrow. Andy Cates
June 22, 2004
Good evening folks. We had a great day of quality albacore fishing. The average
was 25 to 40 pounds and even a few bigger ones mixed in. The morning started
with a four hour drift. A nice easy pick, keeping 5 to 7 going with flurries
mixed in. After lunch it pretty much shutdown with a little go around right at
dark to finish the day. Near limits of fat albacore and 1 40 pound bluefin for
the day. Tomorrow we are going to Bonitos to try for yellowtail. We have enough
albacore . Now we are looking for another kind of fish. I posted pictures of
some of the guys with this good grade albacore. We will report again tomorrow,

Good morning folks. The computer was down yesterday so this report is from
yesterday. We spent the day at Benitos, battling it out with the sea lions. We
managed to pull 87 nice size yellowtail from them. Most of the fish were on the
Yo-Yo jig until the afternoon more on the sardines. The grade was 18 to 25
pounds with a few bigger mixed in. I posted a couple of pictures.
Today we have seen one school of bluefin and only got 2. Smaller fish and now we
are drifting on some albacore. We are going to spend the rest of the day looking
for more Bluefin. Hopefully we find one that wants to bite. We will report again
tonight, Andy Cates

June 25, 2004
Good evening folks. We had a spectacular day of albacore fishing and a decent
pick on Bluefin tuna.
We saw great shows on schools of smaller grade Bluefin. 20 to 40 pounders with a
few fish 50 pounds or better. The fish would show good at first and then
slow down to a very slow pick. The guys all had a chance at a tuna and tomorrow
we will try it again. I put up some pictures of some of the guys with some first
time catches on Bluefin tuna.

June 26, 2004
Good evening folks. We spent the day looking for Bluefin and kelps for
yellowtail. We found one kelp that produced 22 nice size yellows. 15 to 28
pounders. We then got on more of the smaller grade Bluefin and scratched 22 fish
in the afternoon. Most of the fish 20 to 35 pounds with a few bigger up to 50
pounds.
We are on our way home now and leave on an 8 day trip tomorrow. Hopefully this epic albacore fishing holds up. And hopefully the Bluefin start to bite better. I posted a couple of nice pictures of the guys. We will report again tomorrow, Andy Cates

June 27, 2004
Good evening folks. We had a drift that lasted most of the day. Ending the drift
with 40 Bluefin, mostly 25 to 35 pounds with some bigger fish up to 60 pounds
mixed in. The albacore were not to be seen. We hit a few more spots in the
afternoon and picked up a few more fish and a Big Eye about 60 or 70 pounds
shown coming over the rail. I posted pictures of some of the guys. Tomorrow we
are trying for albacore and then bigger bluefin

Good evening folks. We had a great day of albacore fishing. The same nice grade
of fish 35 to 45 pounders.
We saw decent sign of Bluefin today they just would not bite. Tomorrow we are
going to Cedros for yellowtail and mackerel. We want to get some big bait so we
can use them on some big Bluefin. We will report again tomorrow, Andy Cates
June 30
Good evening folks We stayed busy most of the morning on decent size yellowtail.
18 to 25 pounders. The afternoon was pretty slow but gave us a chance to catch
some mackerel. We will be fishing albacore and Bluefin tomorrow. The weather
sounds nice and hopefully it sustains. I posted a picture of a nice halibut we
caught on the iron.
