July 1st, 2006

Good morning folks
We left yesterday on another 8-day trip. With the weather up we decided to pass on the offshore scene and start our trip at the Rocks. We will be traveling today and then fishing tomorrow morning.
We got a fair load of bait yesterday and will be keeping a close eye on it hoping for it to cure up.
The morning will be busy with a seminar and maintenance and then spend the rest of the day looking in the Southern waters. We will report again tomorrow

Good morning folks. We got the anchor down at 1100 am . No strikes on wahoo but saw sign of tuna and tried for that. What looked to be pretty good only lasted until after lunch and then we watched the fish slowly swim away.
We did manage to get 3 wahoo and 16 tuna from 40 to 70 pounds one up around 90. After anchor jobs for the afternoon and watching fish boil around the we only were able to get a couple more fish. Hopefully today with a full morning we can put together a better day The weather is flat calm not enough wind for a kite or balloon. We will report again tomorrow

Good morning folks
It looks like we are back on line here now. We spent 2.5 days at Alijos and never came up with what we would call a good day. Fish boiling around the boat for hours but very hard to get a bite. We looked down at the bank one afternoon and that was a bust .No sign. For whatever reason things just never came together . Fortunately we were able to get some fish and then left in visions of yellowtail action at Cedros.
Unfortunately that was a bust as well. We spent all day on the South end and saw very little sign. What fish we did get on did not want to bite. We fished bait yesterday evening and that actually went well , the only good break so far.
We are still heading up to the offshore grounds we should be up there late morning. Hoping for a school of Bluefin and yellowfin to salvage the trip. Unfortunately the weather has come up to make things even more difficult. Hopefully we find the right school and pull this off. We will report again tomorrow.

Good morning folks. After another tough day we decided to leave Cedros and head up to the off shore grounds. With slim pickin's we were fortunate to get and afternoon drift for 60 mixed Bluefin and Yellowfin. Also some nicer yellows on the kelps which produced 37. A far cry from the fishing up here the last 3 days but we were happy to get some action.
So far today the water is completely different and we are in search of again. We are getting a few yellows on kelps, it is nice to see this better grade fish on kelps. Hopefully we hit it big on our last day here.

For those of you planning to meet the boat the Red Rooster will be in tomorrow the 12th at around 8:30 am.

Good morning folks, Yesterday we had a nice day of yellowtail fishing. Anchored up at Cedros catching fish from 15 to 30 pounds. Very challenging with all the structure, lots of losses in the rocks and kelp. None the less everyone had a chance at a few yellows and good size at that. We are traveling up this morning trying to get into the 100 mile area for the afternoon targeting kelps Bluefin and Albacore. Hoping to finish off with a bang

July 12th, 2006

Good morning folks. After a long run back up to the 90 mile area we finished off with some action on albacore.
By the time we got up there things seemed to have gone down although we pulled out a few stops and one were they were biting the way you like it. That classic albacore on the corner where everyone has one on and then they all leave.
We were thankful to get what we got and then packed it up to go home. Today we are leaving on another 4 day and listening up to see if this albacore is going to be in our game plan.

Only a sample on the tuna 15 albacore and a few yellowfin and bluefin to go with. Ending the day with 137 yellows was a nice start for the 4dy trip. So far this morning we are scratching at tuna 20 mixed albacore and yellowfin up to 35 pounds. We will report again tomorrow.

Good morning folks, We scratched out a nice day yesterday with 100 mixed tuna Albacore and yellowfin, Also 10 dorado and a few yellows to go with. Jackpots were settled with a couple of stops on 35 to 50 pound tuna which gave guys a chance at a trophy.
The albacore are good size but most of the yellowfin are smaller grade. There were some chances at better grade yellowfin ending the day with a dozen of those 35to 50 pound fish and some nice pictures to go with. We will report again tomorrow

July 16th, 2006

Good morning folks. We finished off with more albacore and Yellowfin yesterday. We never got that big hit just scratched throughout the day. More drift fishing we you keep 1 to 5 going for a while and then go look for another. Hard to find ones that would stick and bite. Although they are out there.
Finished off a nice trip with plenty of variety on good grade fish from the albacore to the Dorado including the big yellows on kelps and the trophy yellowfin that will earn Jackpot places. We will report again tomorrow.

Good Morning folks, Yesterday was our first day of a 5 day trip and we started off with action in the offshore grounds. Finding that nice size albacore and yellowfin gave us a good start on the trip. Flat calm weather made for a nice day of fishing.  To see that size of fish right on the corner was quite a treat, even if it was for only a brief time. The fish were only up for about an hour but we did manage to scratch almost all day until the bite time.

We left about 5 PM to head down to Guadalupe and try our hand at a few "trophies". We will report again tomorrow.

Good morning folks, Yesterday we scratched at nice yellows and tuna most of the day. The 62 Yellows were 25 to 40 pounds and the 12 tuna were 40 to 50. Most of the yellows for the day came off of one long drift.

We are at the island again today and are getting what we hook eaten by the white sharks. Slow so far but it is early.

Julio Ochoa skippered the Red Rooster III on the annual Glenn’s Alignment & Brake Service charter with 30 fishermen aboard.

“We started down below on paddies,” said Ochoa, “and we had good fishing with about 100 mixed species per day. On the last day we got on albacore in a new area, with good sign of fish that weren’t biting real well in 72-degree water.”

A 20-minute fight with a 38-pound albacore won the jackpot for J. P. Nisley of Rio Rancho, NM.

“He pulled hard for such a small fish,” said Nisley. He bagged his prize with a sardine on a 5/0 chrome Mustad hook, 40-pound Ande line and 65-pound Spectra backing on an Avet reel and a Seeker 800 L Black Steel rod.

Jim Odlum of Mission Viejo was second for a 37.6-pound longfin, and Dave Rexrode won third place for a 28.7-pound albacore. “ --- Bill Roecker for FishingVideos.com

Good morning folks. The first day of a 4 day and in route to Guadalupe . Starting off on the North end in hopes of trophy yellowtail and then possibly working down the Island. This morning we are looking above the Island for school size yellowfin and dorado on kelps. We will report again tomorrow

Good morning folks. The Island offered a nice afternoon of fishing. 39 yellowfin from 1:00 until 6:00. We caught some live squid last night in hopes of action on heavier gear. Conditions made it a bit tough yesterday with very little to no current but with the help of the crew we were able to get the baits out and get the fish biting.
Today we are spending the day here and hoping to scratch like we did yesterday with more fishing time.
We will report again tomorrow.

Good morning folks. Yesterday we had a nice day at Guadalupe scratching at 35 to 60 pound tuna until 5:00 when we left to come up for action on kelps offshore. We are hoping to stay busy here today on variety and finish off what has been a nice 4 day trip.

Guadalupe is not everyone's game and some did struggle where as others did just fine. The fish are strong and bigger than what most novice anglers are used to. A learning lesson is always had at the Island. We will finish up here today and be back out on another 4 day tomorrow.

Good morning folks. We finished off our 4 day trip with great action on kelp paddies. We got on a line of kelps and were busy from 7:00 am to 6:00 at night. Dorado and yellowtail filled the sacks today with plenty of them and tropical weather to go with. Most yellows were Benitos Island grade fish from 10 to 25 pounds average about 14 pounds. Dorado mixed grade as well. We will report again tomorrow.

Good morning folks. We started our trip with an awful load of bait which took us down the beach for mackerel.
After getting mackerel, we traveled to the west to the albacore grounds were we got there late for the morning bite and scratched at what I thought was marginal grade of albacore.
Leaving there in the evening we tried our hand at trophies at Guadalupe and picked up a wahoo on the troll and managed to get 18 tuna from the sharks throughout the day and one nice yellowtail. We did catch fish right up until dark which made the day seem better with a late hit.
Today we are trying the Kelp paddy thing in hopes of getting everyone some fish I don't regret the move down to the island even know it was tough. Fact is the experience is what makes it.
We will report again tomorrow
