February 2007

Feb. 2, 2007

The morning went very well at Alijos Rocks today, we finished the trip off on an up note with good action and some quality yellowtail and a few Yellowfin tuna. We put 30 yellowtail in the 18-35 pound class and 15 Yellowfin tuna in the 25-35 pound class in the hatch this morning and released another 30-40 yellowtail in the 8-12 pound range. Conditions at the rocks where very nice with very good fishing current and 68.0 water temperature, we saw very good sign of yellowtail and fair sign of yellowfin tuna in the short time we where their. We are currently traveling towards San Diego on the last leg of our journey, the weather is 12 knots of Northwest wind with 3-4 foot seas. Our current speed will have us arriving in San Diego harbor at approximately 0730 on Sunday morning and tied to the dock at Lee Palm Sportfishers right at 0800, please check our web report tomorrow for any updates to our ETA.

Feb. 3rd, 2007

Last night was pretty choppy in one of the traditionally rough areas on the Baja coast outside Cedros Island. We experienced 20-25 knots of North wind and steep short chop making the ride very wet and uncomfortable for about eight hours, by 0900 things began to calm and we are currently enjoying a flat comfortable ride. Our ETA to Lee Palm Sportfishers was unchanged during the unfavorable weather and we are currently on time and on schedule for an 0800 arrival. We look forward to getting in to see all family and friends at the landing in the morning. Once again we would like to thank Joe Pfister and Seeker Rods for sponsoring this annual 15 day trip and Jack Nilsen from Accurate Fishing products for loaning us his exceptional big game reels. The anticipated first place jackpot fish which was caught by Steve Morse at Hurricane Bank on our first day of fishing and was estimated on board at 256 pounds and landed on a Seeker 6463XXXH rod matched with an Accurate two speed twin drag 80 reel. Steve will not only be receiving the benefits that go along with winning first place he will also be awarded the highly coveted Seeker Rod Trophy for the largest yellowfin tuna landed this trip on a Seeker rod, the presentation will take place at the scales in the morning once the official weights have been determined. We will see everyone in the morning.
