Good morning folks. Another 4 day trip starting with action on kelps. Dorado and yellowtail filled the afternoon with a line of kelps that produced until dark. It took us a while to get on a new line but after we found it there were plenty of kelps and action to be had.
To break things up we came down to an Island for a little different fishing and hopefully a few ground fish. The weather is still nice and the forecast looks good for a couple more days.
We will report again tomorrow.

Good afternoon folks. After a fantastic day at the Island yesterday, we finished the trip this morning with a Bonanza of kelp paddies producing Dorado and fat yellowtail. A bigger percentage of the fish were dorado and that's just what we were after. After three kelps we were out of time and had enough . the folks were exhausted after the last couple of days of pulling on fish.
The next trip is a 5 day and hopefully we see similar fishing.

We departed today with the Ono Custom Rods charter aboard. A couple of boats reported catching Albacore so that's where we are heading for tomorrow.

Well, even in long range fishing "should have been here yesterday" holds true. We picked away at the longfin and ended up with 29 of them frustrating tuna. We could see them on the meter, see them jumping on the surface but only a few wanted to bite. At least we took care of the trolling jackpot.

We are on our way to Cedros Island. Today was spent offshore fishing the kelps. Fishing kelps is like playing a slot machine, you pull up to a kelp and see what happens. Sometime you hit the mother lode and sometimes its a desert. We didn't find any kelps that held the mother lode but a few did you a few fish. Ended the day with 88 tails and 47 dorado.

Cedros Island save your trip. All the yellows you could want. 90 % of the tails were quality grade yellow, not many "rats". Nice long drifts with the yellows charging the boat. Only thing you had to worry about is keeping your hooked yellow from making it back to the safety of the kelp beds. You pull on them hard and keep them coming to the boat and your success ratio was high. No place for anything less than 40 lb.

The plan was to fishing the kelps again but mother nature have other ideas. With the winds blowing offshore we ventured up the line by the beach. Our trip was finished off doing a little bottom fishing. We will be leaving tomorrow on an other 5 day trip and it looks like Cedros will be our first stop for those anglers.

Good evening folks. We started our first day of The West Coast Anglers 5 day off shore with action on kelps. With just a few dorado throughout the day and then a great hit on a kelp late in the evening for 12 to 25 pound yellows. We spent the day down below the original area and found what looks like more to come on this offshore kelp paddy fishing. Very good to see more fish moving up.
The water has cooled of a little after the heavy winds that forced us to fish the beach on the last trip , but with the winds down again things are heating back up. Tomorrow we are targeting the bigger yellows at the Island . The incredible fishing on big yellows continues.

After a couple of days of good yellowtail fishing at the Island we are heading up the line. Nice weather down there and nice size yellows with a couple of released Black Sea bass and 10 White Seabass to give us some variety. We finished off last night at Bonitos and saw very good sign and picked up a few more yellows before heading up to fish kelps. The main focus today being dorado with everyone having their fill of nice size yellows. The weather is still good and visibility for kelps will be just fine.

Aug. 17th,
Good afternoon folks. With rough weather on the start of the trip we fished kelps and got a mix of yellowtail and dorado. With the urge for a stop at an Island we choose Bonitos and found tough conditions and Sea lions that were very aggressive. Of course reports from the day before had very little Sea lion problems but not for us. Lots of fish eaten and one White seabass that barely escaped with a bite out of his gill.
Today is another day with kelps and tomorrow we will finish off in the Albacore grounds. With reports of good weather and good fishing we are all over it!.
Some more decent kelp paddy grade yellows and a few Bull dorado we have the variety the people were looking for. Now the albie. Hopefully they are hitting again tomorrow.

Aug. 19th,
Good morning folks. After a scratchy day in the albacore grounds things started to bite late and we saw wide open style albacore until dark. A "sundowner' that really helped out our day.
Finishing off with a great variety of Albacore, dorado, yellowtail ,small yellowfin and even a White seabass to throw in the mix. But what a great way to finish .
Today we leave on our 7 day trip and are headed to the south ,passing up the albacore and great yellowtail at Cedros. In hopes of tuna and Wahoo. We will report again tomorrow

Aug. 23rd,
Good morning folks. After weeks of looking forward to this trip and a exciting travel day down. We found that timing is everything. A disappointment was about all we got from Alijos rocks. Between the sharks and the fish on small flyers there was not much else we could do.
With the sign from the first day we had hopes for the next and that evaporated early and left us moving all over the rocks and trying different spots for very little. We did get a few wahoo and twenty some tuna for the jackpot but all in all it was not what we have come to expect from the Rocks.
Phase 2 the backup plan has at Cedros today and we are hoping for action on this nice fish up here. With the Guadalupe permits available that is another option. We will see how it goes today. After the first let down we put aside the visions of grandeur and are hoping for something to pull on. We will report again tomorrow

Aug. 25th
Good morning folks. We finished off yesterday with excellent yellowtail fishing. Very steady all day, with the mackerel we were able to fish the 60 pound test and really do well on that premium grade yellow. Any where from 5 to 10 fish on most of the day. And the grade was that nice South end fish.
With not much else to do we are fishing up the beach in hopes of Halibut and so far no luck ,but it is early yet We will be in tomorrow and then Julio is bringing the boat out on a 5 day trip while I regroup for the rest of the season.
See you then
